Steve is an artist based in Austin. A native Texan born in Dallas, Steve spent his formative years from second grade through high school on his family's small farm in Seaton. Steve moved to Austin in 1982 and calls it home. He leads an active family life with a wife and two sons.Steve always showed an interest in art and began drawing at an early age. He received a BA in Art from the University of Texas at Austin. While in the School of Fine Arts, he first enrolled as a vocal performance major in the Department of Music. After several semesters studying music, he decided to walk across the street and pursue his first true passion and enroll in the UT Art Department majoring in Art. While in the Art Department, he focused on oil painting and ceramics. Steve works primarily in native Texas limestone which is quarried and found in abundant amounts west of the I35 corridor and throughout the Texas Hill Country. Steve's art is inspired and influenced by a vast array of sources and genres including oceanic art, his life on the farm, primitive African folk art, Impressionist paintings as well as different forms of modern art. Click on EARLY WORKS to see some of my first pieces. The GALLERY includes some of my most recent sculptures and what they've evolved into today. My pieces are used as decorative garden and yard art. Others are on display in people's homes. Some even hold forth on porches and entryways, welcoming guests with a friendly greeting. Thanks for visiting my website. Feel free to me with your comments. |
